by Nakiya Morgan
"Cinderella" is turning into one magical production. Oscar-nominated actress Helena Bonham Carter has joined the star-studded cast of the upcoming Disney live-action feature, according to the studio.
The actress snagged the role of the fairy godmother in the new edition of the classic tale. She will join a cast that already includes Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother, Lily James as the titular protagonist and Richard Madden as the prince. Kenneth Branagh, who is responsible for films like "Thor" and "Hamlet," will direct.
Helena is best known for her chockablock resume of whimsical character roles, like the Red Queen in "Alice and Wonderland," Madame Thénardier in "Les Miserables" and Bellatrix Lestrange in the “Harry Potter” series.
“Cinderella” will arrive in theaters in 2014.
