'Twilight' Actor Charlie Bewley Bites Into 'Vampire Diaries' Role
by Ryan J. Downey
One door closes but another door opens—even when that "door" is a coffin lid!
OK, so the vampires of Mystic Falls don't really sleep in coffins (though they do often sleep with each other! Zing!), but we really wanted to make that sentence happen. Even as "The Twilight Saga" draws to a close in theaters, one vamp veteran is headed to the other supernatural romance based on a series of books, "The Vampire Diaries."
Charlie Bewley, known to Team Edward and Team Jacob members alike as the villainous Volturi Demetri, is headed to "The Vampire Diaries" in this season's 13th episode, E! News reports. The 31-year-old London-born actor will play Vaughn, whom casting folks described as "ruggedly handsome, charming, built and tough as hell." The E! News report also noted that an actor with an accent was preferred for the role. Perhaps he'll play one of The Five? Hmm.
Episode 413 will also feature another new face: Caitlin, who will be played by 34-year-old Camille Guaty. She was in nine episodes of Fox's "Prison Break," did an episode of "Everwood" and has done several voices on "Family Guy," among other roles. TV Guide reports that Caitlin is someone from Professor Shane's past who will provide some insights into his motivations.
