Feast Your Eyes On 'Originals' Flashback Photos

There's just one thing more fun than a sneaky, peeky preview of new CW spin-off series "The Originals"...and that's a sneaky, peeky preview of new CW spin-off series "The Originals" in which all the men are dressed in super-sexy 1800s garb. Joseph Morgan and Charles Michael Davis wearing ruffly shirts, open at the throat to expose some beefy manflesh? Yes, please, thank you, and goodnight: We're going to go enjoy an, ahem, better look at these stills in a more private location.

For the uninitiated, "The Originals" takes place in "The Vampire Diaries" universe, exploring the sordid, sexy backstories of the series' original Mikaelson vampires. And in this peep at the second episode, titled "House of the Rising Son," we're promised a long, interesting look at the family's dynamics dating back to the early 19th century—when Klaus was still a bad, bad boy, Rebekah was still frustrated by her brother's troublemaking ways and Marcel was still a stone fox with a penchant for shirtlessness and swordplay. Meow.

"The Originals" premieres with a special preview episode immediately after "The Vampire Diaries" on October 3; "House of the Rising Son" will follow it as the first episode in the series' regular slot, Tuesdays at 8 p.m.

Mindy Kaling Teases Adam Pally's Fratty 'Mindy Project' Role

It's a happy ending for Adam Pally after all! The former "Happy Endings" star has just been named a series regular on "The Mindy Project."

Although Adam has yet to appear on the just-launched season two of "The Mindy Project," The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that he’s already booked a regular gig on the show after initially signing on for a recurring role. But, we’ve got even more information for you.

We had the pleasure of chatting with Mindy Kaling earlier this week, and she revealed some details about her practice’s latest addition. “Pally is my favorite, and he plays this guy Peter Prentiss, who kind of takes over after [James] Franco leaves,” she explained. “And he is a Dartmouth undergrad/Dartmouth medical school grad.”

And that’s not all. She shared just what kind of OB/GYN Dr. Prentiss is. She said, “He’s a fratty OB/GYN who like loves women and loves being a dude. And it’s such a fun character for him and really fun for me to write ‘cause I went to Dartmouth, and I like so know this guy. So I think he’s gonna be a fan favorite.”

Adam is one of the many familiar faces slated to stop by the Fox sitcom this season. Kris Humphries and Timothy Olyphant will also hang with Dr. Lahiri and crew. Stick with Hollywood Crush for more on their appearances!

Lucy Hale Admits To Being 'Scared As Hell' About Music Career

Lucy HaleWe've been following the progress of "Pretty Little Liars" star Lucy Hale's country album for more than a year now—though the actress has had musical aspirations since she was a teen. (Remember her appearance on "American Juniors"?) And as she puts the finishing touches on her debut, Lucy recently opened up in the October issue of Self about her apprehension regarding the release and the one thing she'd like to change about herself.

"I'm scared as hell," Lucy admitted to the magazine. "Some days I go to sleep and I'm like, What am I doing? People aren't going to take me seriously. Music is my favorite thing, and I'm going to fight to make it happen."

To her credit, Lucy's got plenty of allies on her side, including Sugarland singer and guitarist Kristian Bush, with whom she collaborated on writing songs for the album.

While her music career is a bit of a question mark, Lucy's sure of one thing: She doesn't care what other people think of her body.

"I was on the beach in Hawaii and there were paparazzi in the bushes," she recalled. "I don't think anybody wants to be photographed in their bikini unless you're like a Victoria's Secret model. There's always a little voice in my head that says, Suck it in a little more—but you know, I'm so comfortable with who I am, I'm just like, screw it! Take pictures!"

Yet, that doesn't mean there aren't things Lucy would be keen to tweak.

"I always wish I was a little bit taller," she said. "Maybe 2 inches to make it to 5 foot 4. I'll take whatever I can get."

Mindy Kaling Reveals James Franco’s ‘Mindy Project’ Inspiration

James Franco Mindy Project

Prepare yourselves! James Franco is ready to challenge Dr. Mindy on the new season of "The Mindy Project," which kicks off Tuesday night.

And given just how adorable his Dr. Paul Leotard is, we think Mindy might have a hard time kicking him to the curb and reclaiming her practice from the model turned OB/GYN. "His name is Paul Leotard, which is a ridiculous name and the fact that he was like 'Yeah that's a great name for the character,' he just rolls with everything," star Mindy Kaling explained to MTV News. "In fact, when he introduced himself to me on the show he pronounced it 'Lay-o-tard,' which is even funnier to me. He just wants to be the weirdest, funniest version of himself."

The season premiere finds Mindy perfectly in love with her fiance, Pastor Casey. But expect lots of snafus and some hardcore crushing on Dr. Leotard, a jack-of-all-trades, much like the actor himself.

"We wanted there to be a little bit of a wink. When he's putting up his credentials [during the episode], there's like nine things he does and I think that James is so good at poking fun at himself," she said. "He's like a multi-hyphenate-[at]-large. So, yeah, he was excited to, I think, make light of that."

It's All About The Music In 'This Song Will Save Your Life'

Hollywood Crush

It's All About The Music In 'This Song Will Save Your Life'

This Song Will Save Your LifeElise Dembowski, the protagonist of Leila Sales' new novel, "This Song Will Save Your Life," is the kind of clueless loser who'll make you cringe—and depending upon your personal high school history, it might be with recognition. Sneered at, bullied and relentlessly rejected, Elise is a social pariah thanks to having committed teen life's one unforgivable sin: wanting people to like her.

But when this story begins, Elise is sure that she's got it all figured out. All this time, she's been targeted for sticking out; clearly, what she needs is to reject her uniqueness and fit in, right? [Ed note: Ugh, no, wrong. SO wrong. But there's nothing we can do to stop her.] Determined to make her sophomore year the one in which she's finally be accepted, Elise studies up on popular culture, buys all the right clothes and stows the physical evidence of her former life as a weirdo outlier in an industrial-strength trash bag.

Which means that when her plan crashes, burns and explodes into itty-bitty humiliating little pieces for good measure, she's left with nothing—not even herself.

"This Song Will Save Your Life" is Elise's journey from rock bottom to self-discovery, courtesy of an underground dance club, a new-found talent for DJing and a group of lively and loving friends who aren't perfect, and aren't popular, but have found the secret to happiness in being completely, utterly and unabashedly themselves. The book is funny, insightful and captures with unflinching authenticity the experience of a bullied kid; Sales gets everything right as she shows how even a smart, self-aware girl with involved parents and a bright future can end up crushed by the hopelessness and helplessness of being victimized. And although there's a romantic subplot that's just the right amounts of fun and titillating, it's also refreshingly underwrought: Elise is gratefully savvy from the get-go about the fact that her fling, a fellow DJ, is a sexy but irredeemable douchebag, and the love story is never the main event. This is one YA heroine who'd rather find herself than find romance, and it's the music, not the man, that shows her the way.

"This Song Will Save Your Life" is out September 17.

Chloe Moretz Shares Her Horror History With W

Hollywood Crush

Chloe Moretz Shares Her Horror History With W

Chloe MoretzIf you weren't sure that sunny, sassy Chloe Moretz was the perfect pick to play Stephen King's brooding, tortured telekinetic teenager in the upcoming remake of "Carrie," then you'll definitely want to take a peek at her latest cover spot: W magazine has the actress front and center for its October issue, and girl looks downright haunted. And in her interview, Chloe makes it clear that she's no stranger to the horror-film scene. In fact, it's where she got her start.

"I booked 'The Amityville Horror' when I was 6," she recalled. "I did about four or five auditions and had to cry at every single one. When you’re that young, it’s a huge feat to be able to cry, so I did the same crying scene over and over to prove that I could and that I wasn’t making myself crazy doing it."

It was also on that film that she learned her first, vital lessons about maintaining a nice, fat boundary between the characters she plays and the person she is.

"I never take anything home with me. Trevor [Chloe's brother and acting coach] taught me from a young age how to get out of character. He taught me that all the crying and emotion are fake," she explained, which probably explains why she seems to seek out such comparatively dark, demented roles compared with other actresses her age.

But, says Chloe, that's exactly what she wants: "When I found out about 'Kick-Ass,' I was 10, and I was obsessed with the part. 'Wanted,' with Angelina Jolie, had just come out, and I was eager to do something cool like that, but not the kiddie version. I didn’t want to run around with little laser guns and stupid stuff."

And with upcoming roles not just in "Carrie," but also in the emotionally wrenching film adaptation of "If I Stay," it seems unlikely that we'll see Chloe running around with little laser guns anytime in the near future. Or ever. Probably ever.

Which Pop Star Does Chloe Moretz Want To Dress As For Halloween?

Chloe MoretzIf you like cute flannel fashion and quotable quotes, look no further than the October issue of Seventeen—where the lovely Chloe Moretz is sitting pretty as cover girl! The star of the soon-to-be-released "Carrie" remake (a Halloween-ready horror show in which there is very little cute flannel and very much blood-covered formal wear) is sharing insights and interests in the pages, alongside a photoshoot featuring some very covetable fall looks.

And if you've noticed that Chloe looks different these days, you, sir, are correct: The longtime blondie recently dyed her locks dark as part of her sweet 16 celebration.

She explained, "I've had blond hair for 15 years, so I decided on my 16th year, why not go brown?! I like being a brunette better. It’s more sophisticated."

But while Chloe enjoys a good conversation about hair color as much as the next girl, she makes it clear that she prefers to surround herself with people who want more from life than shiny, luscious tresses—people whose level of ambition reflects her own as one of the most sought-after teen actresses in Hollywood.

"What my friends and I have in common is that we all strive to do something," she said. "They want to go to good colleges, be writers, publicists, fashion designers—whatever it is they want to do, they know what they want and they go for it."

Something else Chloe knows? Who she wants her family to dress up as for Halloween.

"I want my whole family—including my brothers—to be Britney Spears throughout the ages," she said. "They’d never all do it with me, only one of my brothers would, but I would want to be ‘Oops I Did It Again’ Britney in the red jumpsuit."

What do you think of Chloe's look from Seventeen?

'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Casting: Who Should Play Series' Other Hot Young Couple?

Hollywood Crush

'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Casting: Who Should Play Series' Other Hot Young Couple?

Whether Monday's "Fifty Shades of Grey" casting news left you squealing in delight or seeing a shade in keeping with Christian Grey's Red Room of Pain, actors Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson are here to stay as the bad-boy billionaire and his paramour Anastasia Steele (so you can kindly put away your petitions, okay?). And amid all this furor, an important detail has been overlooked: Director Sam Taylor-Johnson has yet to cast the film's other hot young couple, Kate Kavanaugh and Elliot Grey.

Fans of E.L. James' best-selling series will surely recognize these names. Kate is Ana's best friend and roommate—a budding journalist who comes down with the flu the day of her big interview with Christian Grey. She sends Ana in her place, and the rest is, well, you know. Elliot, on the other hand, is Christian's easy-going adoptive brother, who embarks on a relationship with the feisty Kate after meeting her at a bar.

Miss Kavanaugh is described as a strawberry blonde, with green eyes and curves to spare. And if it's a strong-willed stunner producers are looking for, we'd recommend "Pitch Perfect" actress Brittany Snow, who went so far as to hop into the shower with Anna Kendrick to convince her to join the Barden Bellas. But if it's a more striking physical resemblance they're after, how about Elizabeth Olsen, who was a one-time contender for the role of Ana? (She's probably already familiar with the material too!) For a third option, let's tap Amber Heard. She did land Johnny Depp, after all. Elliot Grey would be a piece of cake!

As for 30-something Elliot, whom E.L. describes as tall and muscular with curly blond hair and blue eyes—oh, if only Simon Baker were a decade younger, he'd be perfect! "Nashville" actor Chris Carmack could be a good stand in (sans cowboy hat, of course). We could also see a clean-shaven Travis Fimmel of "Vikings" fame filling the bill for a muscular blond hunk. And, the obvious choice, Armie Hammer. But would he take such a small role?

"Fifty Shades of Grey" is slated for an August 1, 2014 release.

Who would you like to see play Kate and Elliot? Tell us in the comments and on Twitter!

Emma Watson's Ab-Baring Outfit: Love It Or Leave It?

Blame "The Bling Ring," but Emma Watson's abs aren't exactly a revelation to us. However, even we must admit that we've never seen the actress flaunt quite so much flesh on a red carpet before.

Emma attended the GQ Men of the Year Awards in London Tuesday evening, where she showed off her toned mid-section in an ivory crop top and black trousers, both from Balenciaga.

It's a sexy look, to be sure—accented by pulled-back hair and rosy makeup—but not one we're entirely in love with. The effect of the black-and-white color scheme and wide bolero sleeves call to mind a flying nun more than a sleek sophisticate. (Albeit, a flying nun who owns 27 "Abs of Steel" workout tapes...)

'Catching Fire' EXCLUSIVE Image: Katniss, Peeta Take A Tour

Our Fall Movie Preview may be winding down, but we've still got all kinds of delicious sneak-peeky things to whet your cinematic appetites for the biggest, boldest, most anticipated-est blockbusters of the year...but perhaps none so totally covetable as this new, EXCLUSIVE still from "Catching Fire"! Be forewarned, o lovers of all things "Hunger Games": This never-before-seen pic of District 12's champions on their government-sponsored Victory Tour will reduce you from an articulate human person into a blubbering mass of firing neurons that can only run in circles around the room, screeching, "ERMAGHERD! ERTS KERTNEHS ERND PERRTEHHHH!"

If you're even a little familiar with the story behind the "Hunger Games" sequel, this image should come as no surprise: It's gotta be an early-in-the-film shot from Katniss and Peeta's tour 'round the Districts, a dog-and-pony show undertaken by the duo in an attempt to stave off the revolution fomenting amongst the Panem citizenry. (Apparently, said dog-and-pony show involves one of the most covetable outfits evar; how amazing are Katniss's colorblock sweater and paneled leggings? Has there ever been a more perfect fall ensemble?)

But they can trot out the champions in pretty clothes and artful coifs all they want; nothing's gonna stop this train from rolling on into the Capitol for the Quarter Quell, and furthermore, nothing is going to stop Finnick Odair from being shirtless when it happens...among other things that make "Catching Fire" one of the movies we can't wait to feast our eyes on this fall.

"Catching Fire" is out in theaters November 22.

Have you ever been like, This whole "faction" business is confusing and I would like Kate Winslet and Shailene Woodley to explain it to me, personally, because we are such good friends!? Well, aren't you the luckiest duck in Ducktown? Because there's a new preview making its way 'round the internets in which ALL OF THESE THINGS HAPPEN. Check it!

In this official "Factions" preview from the folks at Summit, the cast of "Divergent" are all on hand to talk about just what makes the story's futuristic society tick: specifically, the organization of its members into five distinct factions, each based on a single, unifying core value. Plus, there's some great footage that shows the movie being made—including a better look at the ceremony in which Beatrice "Tris" Prior makes the choice that changes her life, and a shot of Shailene taking the plunge from that rooftop (which leaves no question as to whether the actress performed that stunt herself. Nerves of steel, that one!)

"Divergent" hits theaters March 20, 2014.

Nobody In 'Vampire Academy' Is Innocent, Says Screenwriter Dan Waters

Hollywood Crush

Nobody In 'Vampire Academy' Is Innocent, Says Screenwriter Dan Waters

Vampire AcademyFans got their first taste of the big-screen adaptation of Richelle Mead's "Vampire Academy" earlier this month with the bloody fabulous debut of a teaser trailer. (SHIRTLESS DIMITRI WHAT!!!!!!!) But with a big-screen bow more than six months away, we're already bloodlusting for more.

Sooooooo... we hopped on the phone with screenwriter Daniel Waters (probably best known for penning 1988's "Heathers") to get all the dirty details about the Zoey Deutch-starring film, including what's changed from the book and how "Vampire Academy" will be different than other teen flicks.

Hollywood Crush: "Heathers" came out 25 years ago. How do you think the teen sensibility has changed since then?

Dan Waters: I think it goes through different patterns and waves. Certainly, when "Heathers" came around, I think people were sick of a certain kind of teen film, like, even John Hughes films that we loved then and love now, I think it came at a period when people were sick of them, and I think we're getting to that point again, where we've seen so many different teen cliches and young-adult cliches and even vampire-themed cliches. I'm happy to be coming back to the teen genre, because I think it's time to slap those cliches around again. We need something new because I think everybody kind of feels like we're in a rut of the same kind of thing over and over.

How is that you and your brother ["Mean Girls" director Mark Waters] as adult men can so easily tap into the psyche of teen girls?

Well, I've always had the opinion that men are—there are so many movies about men and boys and things like that, and we're not that interesting. I think especially at that age, especially in the high school years, it's the girls that really run things, and they're the ones going through a lot more complex stuff. So to me, it's not about being a great feminist or anything like that, I just want to find what's most original that when you do something with a female character, you're already getting a much more original and interesting perspective. Even like the Catwoman character I did in "Batman Returns" was odd. You definitely have a different sensibility.

I get kind of weirded out when people get so surprised when it has a female protagonist. I think a lot of times people will compare Rose Hathaway's character with Bella Swan from "Twilight," and I'm like, "Can't they just be two characters in two separate universes?" Nobody says Iron Man has a better sense of humor than Wolverine because they're just two different characters. We need a lot more female characters. I think it makes the world a lot more interesting if we see that perspective. So I'm coming in almost on the level of a writer trying to be original, that when you have a female character—a female lead, especially—it colors everything.

We definitely find it disheartening when everyone lumps all YA adaptations together simply because they're geared toward a similarly aged demographic.

I was a little guilty of that too, believe me. When the producers first came to me, and I wasn't familiar with the book and they said, "Would you like to adapt 'Vampire Academy'?" I thought, "Oh no! It's come to this." It was like they were offering me "Zack and Cody in Space" or something. It took me to really read the book and really understand, "Okay, don't be fooled by the titled. There's a lot going on here. There's a lot going on here that you don't get in a typical genre movie."

What was it you saw that won you over?

I see every movie that comes out, so to me—and especially it seems like nowadays—every movie has some innocent character come across this new world, and they start screaming, "This just can't be happening! Magic is impossible! There's no such thing as a vampire!" I love that nobody in "Vampire Academy" is innocent. We get to jump the line past all of that stuff. They're all pretty chill about it. Magic is real. Vampires are real. Vampires doing magic is real. To me, what was interesting about the project was the chance to play the supernatural as completely natural. To me, it was just a new way. A new attack at this material.

It certainly has a unique mythology with the three different types of vampires.

By being able to start on second base or third base, as it were, and not have to go through that whole opening getting everyone up to speed, we can actually get to a deeper level. We're all agreed there is such a thing as vampires. Now let's really get into it. Now, let's get into the different types of vampires and the different types of relationships that that makes. That's also pretty fascinating.

That does take a bit of explaining though. How do you not get bogged down in exposition?

I can tell you, it's an ongoing process. My original view was to just throw everybody right in, and just like you're a fly on a wall at the academy where everybody knows this stuff already. So you've got to pay attention and glom on. For people who haven't read the book, we're going through a process, or maybe tweaking. So we do find out a little bit more upfront. But to me, that's part of the fun. That the whole movie isn't about finding out what it's all about but what happens after that. It's like when you go visit a foreign city, you don't want to read about everything int he travel book on the plane over there. You want to kind of just be thrown in to that new environment and experience it. I think that's part of the fun.

How involved was Richelle?

I didn't talk to Richelle before writing it. She's so cool that she knew it's a different process, and she didn't want to be in my head right away. But she did read the first draft. Mark and I went up and met with her after that. The great thing about her is that she' snot only the person who created this world, but she's also a fan too. So she can look at this as a fan and just like enjoy it and go with it. And I think she was surprised when she just went on the roller-coaster ride forgetting she's the one who actually created this stuff. There's definitely some stuff I tried that she was for. I tried to make Christian blond, and that's when she slapped me. Definitely don't want to mess with the boys and their personal appearance.

Were there any scenes you wanted to fit in but just couldn't?

It's not an easy book to adapt. I always think that my housekeeper could have done a good adaptation of "Hunger Games." You just go for a ride and step back. I think this is much more complex material. It's not just dealing with action and the supernatural, but all these different kinds of weird relationships, too. So I found from an adaptation standpoint, the biggest difficulty was that a lot of it takes place in Rose's head, which kind of works in the book with Richelle and her writing, but nobody wants to see a movie where the character narrates the movie and says, "this happened and then this happened." So i think a lot of if was creating mystery out of that. But I felt like everything—and maybe I'm just rationalizing—but I felt like everything that was cut, I'm okay with. That statement will come back to haunt me. I know I had to do practically a press conference to tell the fans that Eddie's character would not be appearing. I mean, it's crazy. But you read the book, and Eddie's got, like, a couple of lines. I'm struggling to put more Mason in right now.

This was the first project you and your brother collaborated on. When and how did he become involved?

It's funny, we've actually developed a lot fo things together. I don't want to blow anybody's mind, but this is actually our second vampire project. I adapted the Christopher Moore novel "Bloodsucking Freaks" for 20th Century Fox with him attached to direct. The studio really liked the script, but it's so hard to get a movie made. When my brother found out I was doing another vampire movie, he was actually angry. He didn't want to have anything to do with it. Then I showed him the script and he said, "Wait a minute. You didn't tell me it was going to be good!" I think he got involved then. But my brother and I are a god team. I'm kind of like the "crazy right brain, way too imaginative, can't even get a driver's license because I day dream too much" [type], and he's much more the "left brain, never got a B in his life, just make everything run on time" [type]. It's a good match because I can just let my imagination run wild. And he says you're letting it run too wild.

I assume Mark's cutting the film now. Are you involved in that process, or are you hands off now?

He's still in London, and I'm in Los Angeles. But I'm definitely not done. I have a feeling I'm going to be writing and re-writing narration, tweaking it until a week before. I think the disappointment of certain teen films recently, we have to completely readjust what we're doing with the movie. We're obviously adapting "Vampire Academy" because we love "Vampire Academy," so the movie's not going to change. The marketing may get crazy, so I warn the readers of that.

"Vampire Academy" hits theaters February 14, 2014.

Robert Pattinson For Dior: Even More Pretty Pics!

Robert PattinsonOh, those maddening minxes at Dior! The fashion house continues to tease us with images from "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson's upcoming campaign, and we're positively slobbering over this latest batch!

The black-and-white snaps (which you can find at the Dior Homme website), feature the heartthrob alongside a lucky lady model in various swoony scenarios—snuggling in bed, romping on the beach, canoodling in an elevator—all teasing the September 1 release of the ad.

Yet, if Women's Wear Daily's scoop about RPattz's endorsement is true, we won't be seeing the final ads on this side of the pond. The commercials are set to air only in Europe (save for the UK) and Asia (except for China and Japan), with a coinciding print campaign in various magazines and newspapers. But in this internet age, we're optimistic we'll somehow get to see Robert in all his Dior Homme glory very soon.

'Vampire Diaries' Adds A Mysterious Professor

Rick CosnettWith school back in session, it's no surprise TV's teachers are quickly being cast into the classroom.

The latest (via Entertainment Weekly): Rick Cosnett, who will join "The Vampire Diaries" as Dr. Wes Maxfield, a biology professor at Whitmore College. He will make "fast enemies" with new students Elena and Caroline, and they, in turn, will begin to suspect he's hiding something. (But, really, what character on "The Vampire Diaries" isn't hiding something?)

Rick's casting is just the latest bit of news pertaining to the BFF's entry into higher education. Earlier this summer, we talked to "TVD" executive producer Julie Plec, who spilled a few details about the upcoming semester, er, season.

"They're really committed to enjoying life and enjoying college and being college freshmen," Julie said of Elena and Caroline. "Of course things will go instantly, terribly wrong, because that's what always happens, but they remain committed to trying to have a true college experience and it bonds them in a really good way."

"The Vampire Diaries" returns October 3.

Is Rick a worthy addition to the "TVD" cast?

5 Things To Do Before Seeing 'Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones'

Hollywood Crush

5 Things To Do Before Seeing 'Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones'

Mortal Instrumentsby Jessica Marshall

The mundane days that you spent waiting for "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" are at an end. The film hits theaters today!

It's the story of Clary (Lily Collins), an average artsy fartsy New York City teen, who discovers she's part of a long line of demon-slaying Shadowhunters after her mother is kidnapped. Vowing to save her mum (played by “Game of Thrones” star Lena Headey), she enters a dark otherworld she never knew existed. There to guide her every step of the way is fellow Shadowhunter and inevitable love interest, Jace (Jamie Campbell Bower).

Before you take a sip from the Mortal Cup and head to theaters, here are five things you should do.

Read the books

Clary and the rest of the Shadowhunting gang came from the brains of Cassandra Clare, who wrote about their adventures in a best-selling six-part YA novel series (the sixth and final book, "City of Heavenly Fire," is slated to come out early next year).

Watch "Supernatural"

This long-running, much-loved CW series is also about insanely attractive demon-hunters. In this case, it's brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, who scour the countryside on a mission to rid the world of nefarious supernatural types.

Don your battle runes

All good Shadowhunters sport them to amplify their demon-slaying powers. Make like a Shadowhunter yourself and head to Hot Topic, where you can get temporary rune tattoos! A little angelic power goes a long way.

Call your mother

Clary puts her life on the line, risking everything she has to save her mother. The very least you can do for yours is give a phone call. You may not have fought powerful demons to do so, but she'll definitely appreciate the gesture, we're sure.

Drink from the Mortal Cup

This sacred object turns boring old mundanes into angelic demon-slaying Shadowhunters. Who wouldn't want to drink from it? Grab yourself a fancy-looking goblet, fill it with something red (not blood, please)...and bottoms up!

BONUS: Stay tuned for the sequel

Production on the first sequel, “City of Ashes,” is already kicking off, with Sigourney Weaver in talks to join the cast.

How are you preparing for "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones"?

Demi Lovato Turns 21: Her Year Ahead

Demi LovatoHappy birthday, Demi Lovato! Today, the singer/actress/hairstyle maven turns 21. It’s already been a wild ride for the multi-hyphenate performer, and we imagine that as she dives even deeper into her twenties, more success is coming her way.

Demi has been out of the public eye for the past few days, and based on her Twitter, we assume she’s spending her big day in Africa, upholding her promise that her summer vacation would be spent “like a boss.” That’s a much more exotic location than where we celebrated our 21st birthday. Believe us! Though we suspect that when she lands stateside again, the newly legal singer will be very busy!

First up, Demi is up for a Best Female Video Moonman at the VMAs this Sunday. She'll go against Pink, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and Rihanna. To find out if she’ll take home her second-ever Moonman (she won one last year) for “Heart Attack,” tune into the show when it goes live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on August 25.

Then, his fall, she'll appear on not one but two TV shows for FOX. This September, she will return to “X Factor” as a mentor/judge on the series. It’s her second season with with the show. With Britney Spears out, Demi and Simon Cowell will be joined by Paulina Rubio and Kelly Rowland. The new season kicks off on September 11.

She also just booked a recurring role on “Glee,” where she’s slated to hang with Santana and Rachel in NYC. She’ll also be putting her killer pipes to good use. She’ll duet with Adam Lambert during her tenure, according reports. Her first episode is slated for October 3. The “Glee” role marks her first acting gig since leaving Disney’s “Sonny With a Chance” in 2011.

In between TV gigs, we’re hoping that Demi makes some time to film another music video. She pretty much slayed it in her directorial effort for “Made in the USA.” We hope more directing is in Demi’s future, for sure!
