Our Gif To You: Channing Tatum Is People's Sexiest Man Alive

The news that Channing Tatum has been named People's Sexiest Man Alive hit the web this morning, which was a big surprise to absolutely no one who has ever, y'know, seen Channing Tatum. Rarely has a Sexiest Man Alive win been so well deserved—or so well-earned, considering that this was not only a big, busy year for the actor, but also the year that brought us "Magic Mike," in which audiences were treated to a particularly awe-inspiring view of all the things about Channing that make him worthy of the title. But for that one guy out there who's all, "Channing Tatum? Sexy? Are you sure?" (seriously, One Guy, WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM), we've put together a nice little gif-box for your viewing pleasure. What makes Channing Tatum the sexiest of the sexy men?

For starters, there's nothing sexier than a man who's not afraid to do what he loves...

...particularly when what he loves is this.

And this.

Oh, and this.

But Channing is more than just a pretty face and a butt you could bounce quarters off. He's a friend to the animals!

And he's smart, too.

Plus, he always takes our calls.

And best of all? He just wants us to be happy.

Also, this.

'The Host' EXCLUSIVE Trailer: The Alien Invasion Begins

Lest you missed all the hubbub yesterday, Saoirse Ronan is giving the world a first, EXCLUSIVE look at the trailer for her soon-to-be-released sci-fi romance, "The Host," here on MTV.com.

Prepare to have your mind blown by the sheer spectacle of it all.

In the trailer, we see the world of the future: where disembodied aliens came to Earth, overwrote everyone's brains with their own parasitic consciousness and more or less turned the human race into a bunch of walking iPods made of meat. Only a few have been spared—including Melanie, who manages to meet and fall in love with one of the few remaining non-pod-person males left on earth. But life on the run is risky, and it's not long before Melanie finds herself captured by the alien Souls (led by an ice-cold Diane Kruger)... and at 1:37, things get real. Action! Desert caves! Battles for the future of humanity! Plus, cute boys! Looks exciting, doesn't it?

"The Host" hits theaters March 29, 2013.

Which 'Twilight' Fanfic Should Land A Publishing Deal Next?

Hollywood Crush

Which 'Twilight' Fanfic Should Land A Publishing Deal Next?

Fifty Shades of GreyAs the big-screen iteration of Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight Saga" draws to an end, it seems the fanfic her series inspired is about to enjoy its own moment in the sun.

To wit, E L James' erotic novel, "Fifty Shades of Grey," and its sequels have already sold more than 60 million copies worldwide, with a film version in the works. And, just yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that another Twific "The Office" (retitled "Beautiful Bastard") will be making its way to bookstore shelves soon. Indeed, it's a good time to be a fan-fiction writer. All of which got us wondering which other "Twilight" takeoffs are worthy of prime placement at Barnes & Noble. We reached out to several in-the-know fanfic enthusiasts to get their opinions.

Check out their reading lists after the jump, and sound off with your own suggestions in the comments!

"The Blessing and the Curse"

"If the publishing world wants another 'Twilight' fan fiction series to snap up, key in a few name changes, and sell like hotcakes, they might want to give 'The Blessing and the Curse' by The Black Arrow a look-see. In this story, Bella was orphaned at a young age and raised by Esme, Edward's mother. Though she's engaged to another man, she pretends to be head over heels for Edward for oh-so-romantic-minded Esme's sake. Only, Edward the telepath knows better and makes it a mission to make her affections real. The life-long relationship between Bella and Edward is intense—at times almost too much so—which makes for an intoxicating, roller coaster-esque read. The plot and characters are just different enough to distinguish from the saga, and people love this fic a lot." —Amanda Bell, Twilight Examiner

"Wide Awake"

"I was introduced to the world of 'Twilight' fan fiction back in late 2008 through our message board over on the Twilight Facebook page. To this day, I am deeply invested and utterly in love with a story called ‘Wide Awake,' written by AngstGoddess003. When talking about that story I tell others that it was so good, that staying up until 4 a.m. just reading it almost kept me from passing my classes that semester. Along with 'The Office,' that story continues to be one that I would pay money to read in print." —Lauren Suero, Twilight Facebook page

"There Will Be Blood"

"There are a lot of 'Twilight' fans who are fan-fiction lovers. A lot of them are quiet about their fanfic love. Others are more open about it. Personally, I read my fanfic on my eReader so no one knows what I'm REALLY reading. But embarrassment aside, fan fiction has introduced me to some amazingly talented writers. One of my favorites is JohnnyBoy7. I first read his story, "There Will Be Blood," at the recommendation of a friend and was immediately engrossed in the story about a family involved in the mafia. I'm pretty excited about the number of fan-fic authors that are getting publishing deals. I can't wait to see who's next. —Elena Raines, Twilightish

'Vampire Diaries' Recap: 'The Killer'

Hollywood Crush

'Vampire Diaries' Recap: 'The Killer'

by Cassie Title

Dear Sandy,

You’re kind of fierce. You were totally raging last week, and I get it—you needed to let loose. But it's been almost two weeks, and I’m over it. You make me powerless. Literally. Because of you, I couldn't watch "The Vampire Diaries" last Thursday night. Which meant I had a one-week hiatus from recapping. Which meant that I was not pleased. So when your cousin Athena or whatever started storming the other day, I’d had enough. Yes, I had two days of electricity after a week without, but I’m back to being powerless today. So I watched "The Vampire Diaries" at a family friend’s house. You will not get the best of me. So there.

Sincerely,

Cathryn I. Title

P.S. I hate you.

(I figured my full name would sound more threatening.)

See what lack of "TVD" does to me? I start writing hate mail to hurricanes. You know who else started writing last night? Elena. And Stefan. (Is this real life?) It was the return of the "Dear Diary" crap, and although I know it’s the namesake of the show, all I want to say is: We’re over that. It’s so four seasons ago. It’s lame and useless and I hate it. Please stop.

Other highlights:

-I think I’m going to stop recapping. Seriously, you guys don’t need me. The whole 20-second recap before every show is just 20-second recap perfection.

-April is super awkward, but there’s got to be more up that chick's sleeve than she's letting on. She went to the Grill to ask Matt if he had seen Rebekah. Not only is Matt pretending he hates Original Barbie, but how are you supposed to tell someone that, yeah, no big deal, she got in a fight with her brother and he daggered her and left her in a coffin for how many hundreds of years.

-Connor held Jeremy, April, and Matt hostage at the Grill. It was great fun. He was hoping to lure the vampires to the Grill so he could kill ‘em. Which he did. At least, the first part. The second part, obviously, was not done. I don’t care if you’re one of the Brotherhood of the Five (even though you’re not; how does that get passed down?). You’re no Buffy, and you’re no match for more than one Mystic Falls vampire.

-There was a complicated plan of sorts to free the hostages. Stefan schemed with Klaus, who sent one of his sired nut jobs to get Connor out of the Grill with non-lethal force. So, basically, he was just sending one of his “family members” to die. Which happened. Nice.

-What is up with Bonnie’s professor friend? I need to know his story. First off, he’s a professor who went to a frat party, which means RED FLAGS straightaway. When we first met him last week, I thought for a second that he was the same actor playing Alexander, one of The Five that Rebekah fell in love with, but I was wrong. He’s just some professor of witchcraft (um, is that even real?) who has some sort of crazy plan that involves slightly manipulating Connor and Bonnie, separately, of course.

-When Hayley met Caroline. The moment we were all waiting for! Hayley quipped: I don’t do teen drama. Take it up with Ty. Which is hysterical, because girl IS TEEN DRAMA. ("Secret Circle," anyone?) But I get it. Tyler said that nothing happened with Hayley in Appalachia; he just wants Klaus to think that, because it’s safer than him knowing the truth—that Hayley and Tyler are working to help all hybrids who want to break their sire bond. How ironic, Klaus. The family you’re so desperate for doesn’t even want you. Shock-er. Do we believe Tyler? Yes. We do. But did something happen with Hayley, too? Yes. We think so. We think.

-After Stefan vervained Damon (oh, no he didn’t!), he copped his idea of going in the tunnels to rescue the hostages. He managed to get April and Matt to crawl to safety, but things got messy with Jeremy. After Connor’s booby trap killed the sired hybrid, he was shooting at Stefan and yelling at Stefan and then I started yelling at Elena, who came in to help, because she heard an explosion and needed Stefan to call her back to tell her what was happening. Um, hello? You want him to call you mid-battle? You’re an idiot. But she came in, pretending to still be human. And then, she vamp attacked that Connor, and Jeremy was safe. But Connor was not. Elena killed her first victim, and she was all kinds of emotional. But do you think she’d be more so if she knew that she may have killed her only chance at becoming human again?

-Stefan and Damon’s love wins out: Stefan told Damon about the cure. And Damon said, I’ll help you, but know this: I love her either way. Can you not love her as a vampire? And Stefan was all, I’ll always love her, but she’s not supposed to be like this. Is Damon’s love somehow truer? I mean, Stefan’s love was pretty manipulative, in, like, saying that if you love me, you’ll trust me and not come to the battle (which she did, eventually.) But it’s kind of abusive...

-Connor thought he needed to kill vampires because his tattoo would grow, and he would learn its meaning, and, hence, his life’s purpose. Too bad.

-This whole time, Klaus has been in Italy, digging up Alexander’s grave to find the sword that decodes the tattoo map.

-Will we ever find out the connection between Connor, April, and her dad? He said they had history, and she eventually said that there was something familiar about him.

-Jeremy developed an invisible tattoo of his own. Um, what? He didn’t kill any vampire. Right? Right? WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON?

-Elena was still in the dark about Connor being a key to a cure for vampirism. She was also really mad at Stefan and Damon. So she started taking a shower. And then, everything was blood. She was seeing it all over the place; she even saw KILLER spelled out in blood. What is going on?

-That would be the following: In next week’s previews, we learned that there’s a consequence for killing a hunter. So, tons of hallucinations. And then. And then! And then we saw Katherine. HOLY SMOKES I’M SO EXCITED IS SHE REAL IS SHE A HALLUCINATION DO I CARE I’M FREAKING OUT.

What did you think of this action-packed episode? How’s Elena going to be able to handle her guilt in killing Connor? Do you think Stefan and Damon were right to keep the secret of a cure from her? Is Klaus going to find out that Damon knows? When’s Rebekah going to get undaggered? What is April’s connection to Connor? Is creepy professor going to find a new hunter to do his bidding? WHAT IS HIS ANGLE? What is his plan?

You learn something new every day on Twitter. Like this revelation from "Cougar Town" star Busy Philipps: the hilarious blond has never seen 007 in action! Can you believe it? She's a Bond virgin (two words that definitely don't belong in a single sentence). The actress contemplated making this weekend's "Skyfall" her first. To which we say: Do it!

Indeed, we've already declared our undying love for the British secret agent, so there's really not much else to say beyond it's time to get shaken (and stirred!), Busy!

'Glee' Recap: 'The Role You Were Born To Play'

Hollywood Crush

'Glee' Recap: 'The Role You Were Born To Play'

Gleeby Melissa Albert

Last time we saw the "Glee" kids, they were singing songs and breaking hearts. But after the hiatus, it seems like everyone but Blaine and his cheatin’ heart has recovered from last episode's breakup fever. In fact, Blaine’s so depressed over blowing it with Kurt that he doesn’t even want to perform in McKinley’s much-anticipated production of "Grease." He auditions anyway, with "Hopelessly Devoted to You," also known as "the Grease song we always fast-forward through." He totally rocks it...but turns down the role of Danny Zuko. He’s just not ready to act like a man in love.

Finn’s still back in Lima, working at Mr. Hummel’s auto shop and longing for a swift death, until Artie asks him to co-direct "Grease." They’re joined by Mercedes and Mike as dance and vocal coach!...because apparently you can take long breaks from a college or musical career without repercussions.

After Blaine turns down Zuko and Baby Puckerman refuses to audition, Finn decides to recruit the musical’s Danny from the football team, an inexhaustible source of raw vocal talent. You’d think it’d be hard to tell who among the mass of dudes in uniforms and full helmets might be a talented musical star, but luckily he immediately spies a broseph literally breakdancing in the end zone. It’s Ryder Lynn: Screw-up. Loner. Possessor of a ridiculous, Disneyfied name. (He’s also played by "Glee Project" winner Blake Jenner).

Finn creepily lures Ryder to the auditorium, where they duet on Foreigner’s "Juke Box Hero." One crowdsurfing fantasy later, and Ryder’s putty in Finn’s hands. "So should I audition?" he asks goofily. "Dude, you just did," Finn smirks, before donning a half-mask and disappearing to his lair below the stage (in our fantasy).

A transphobic Sue overhears Unique admitting to Marley that he wants to try out for the part of Rizzo, and she unleashes the vilest diatribe since the last time Britney messed up a basket toss. (Though Marley is so bland that even Sue can’t think of a mean nickname for her, settling for stealing her lip gloss instead.) Energized by Sue’s haterade, Unique and Marley audition with Pink’s "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)." After hearing that Marley might play his onstage lady love, Ryder chats her up—earning the jealousy of Mr. Hot-and-Cold, Jake Puckerman. Turns out that he dumped Kitty, who’s taking it out on poor, boring Marley. The cruelest cut: Kitty takes her pretty blonde Sandy hair and tries to steal Marley’s role! Jealous Jake duets with her on Neon Trees’ "Everybody Talks," figuring he can get into Marley’s poodle skirt if they’re cast as the leads.

Turns out Figgins has a bit of an inappropriate crush, and is dismayed to learn that underage Unique is not the sexy lady brickhouse he thought he was. Sue gets down on Mr. Schuester for fostering McKinley’s “bubble” of tolerance, arguing that her bigotry represents a cruel world that the kids should get used to. She also objects to the musical’s "illegal lubrication of lightning."

Marley, Kitty, Ryder and Jake are called back for a Sandy/Danny dance-off, where they re-create "Grease"'s competitive hand-jive scene—because there’s no better way to generate sexy chemistry than with the hand jive. Finally, the cast list is posted:

Ryder and Marley got Danny and Sandy!

Tina got the role of Jan (without auditioning)!

Jake got Putzie!

And Kitty got “the bad seed of Rydell High,” Patty Simcox!

Even when she’s come out on top, sweetie-pie Marley STILL lets Kitty bring her down. But you know who doesn’t let anyone walk all over her? Sue Sylvester. And when she sees that co-director Finn cast Unique as Rizzo against her wishes, she gives him her patented "I will wear your skin as a tracksuit" face. Gulp. We don’t think Finn can handle a face-off with Sue.

Mr. Schue and Emma are still arguing over whether she should go with him to Washington, and despite Coach Beiste’s many helpful sports metaphors, it takes Emma two whole scenes to realize that she can’t leave Lima just to make Will happy. They hug it out, and Shue finally breaks it to protégé and future Sue breakfast Finn that he’s leaving for a few months to "fight to keep the arts alive in our schools," which he says with the conviction of Rambo himself. And then he hands Finn the golden ticket: the role of temporary glee club director. This is Finn’s future! He’s going to be...the next Mr. Shue.

Sighing of the wind.

Crickets.

A baby cries in an empty room.

Better buy stock in Generic Hair Gel now, Finn. It’s gonna be a long road.

Song of the Episode: Blaine’s "Hopelessly Devoted to You," which made us EXTRA PSYCHED to see next week’s wall-to-wall "Grease" tribute episode!

What did you think of last night's "Glee"? Which musical number was your fave? Is Finn loveable or lame for returning to McKinley? Does Ryder grease your lightning? Sound off in the comments and on Twitter!

Mila Kunis To Produce '70-Set Series For The CW

Mila Kunis To Produce '70-Set Series For The CW

Mila Kunis must really have a soft spot for bell bottoms and feathered hair. The "That '70s Show" star is set to revisit the disco decade, this time producing a period drama for The CW, Deadline reports.

"Meridian Hill" will follow a young newlywed who joins her Midwest town's Junior League, allying with an eclectic group of women to secure equal rights for the fairer sex. (Something Jackie's gal pal Donna would have approved of, I'm sure!)

No word yet on when the series will hit the airwaves.

Mila will have to juggle producing responsibilities with an increasingly busy film career. The starlet has no fewer than five films premiering in 2013, including "Oz: The Great and Powerful."

For its part, "Meridian Hill" is just the latest time-warp entry for The CW. In January, the network will debut the '80s-set "Carrie Diaries," a prequel to HBO's hit series "Sex and the City."

Does "Meridian Hill" sound like something you'll tune in for? Do you dig series set in other decades? Tell us in the comments and on Twitter!
